On the occasion, Pitta Grós mentioned the existence of a huge discrepancy in funds between the courts and the PGR, showing that, while judges only act in the courts, public prosecutors (MP) act in various areas - such as the Criminal Investigation, Migration and Foreigners Service, Penitentiary Service.
"The PGR has more magistrates than the courts, this means that it needs more money," said Hélder Pitta Grós, quoted by Angop.
Thus, he added, with the courts having a budget greater than that of the PGR, it means that its workers have other benefits that the MP cannot afford due to limited resources, writes Angop.
"What could happen, for sure, is that in a little while the MP magistrates start to work less and, afterwards, those who have more benefits will not work because the processes will not reach them", warned the official, quoted by Angop.
Pitta Grós also considered that with few resources it will be "very difficult" for them to continue "to provide the service that the population expects" from the body "and which they have already become accustomed to".
