BCI announces capital increase of around 15 billion kwanzas

The Bank of Commerce and Industry (BCI) announced this Tuesday that it had presented its restructuring plan, complying with the directives of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), having announced a capital increase of around 15 billion kwanzas.

In a statement, quoted by Jornal de Angola, the banking institution says that it "complied with the stipulations", by presenting a restructuring plan - a measure imposed by the central bank.

The document also states that, "in the plan sent to the BNA, the capital increase of around 15 billion kwanzas was expected to be carried out before the last day of 2022".

In this way, BCI also ensures investment in CAPEX needs (necessary costs to maintain and expand operations), which are around US$5 billion, with shareholders having invested, so far, 36 billion kwanzas.

The bank, owned by the Carrinho business group, recalls that the current management "effectively began in June and found ratios of around 16 billion negative reported in the quarterly balance sheet and in the last quarter of the year the situation reversed to 1,000 positive million, before the audit".
