“Agostinho Neto” school opens in Belas. Institution will host more than 2000 students

The governor of Luanda, Ana Paula de Carvalho, on Tuesday, 25 January, inaugurated a new school. Named “António Agostinho Neto”, the school, located in the municipality of Belas, will welcome more than 2000 students.

The Provincial Government of Luanda (GPL), in a statement made available on its Facebook, states that school 2054 – which was the subject of rehabilitation and expansion works, within the scope of the Integrated Program for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) – has 19 classrooms that will accommodate 2059 students from primary education, from the first and second cycles of secondary education.

The note also states that the "António Agostinho Neto" school was built in 13 months, in a space of 874.11 square meters, with the works costing 179,514,496 kwanzas.

At the opening ceremony, Ana Paula de Carvalho told the more than 50 teachers who make up the teaching staff, "to be guided by civic and professional conduct, so that students complete primary and secondary education properly prepared in knowledge, as well as educated as men of integrity".

She also recalled that the Government is "developing structuring actions in the Education sector, aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions in the country", saying that this is a priority commitment of the President of the Republic.

The school has 60 professionals: 53 teachers, four cleaning assistants and three security guards.
