According to a note from the Angolan Embassy in the UAE, Albino Malungo guaranteed "to start contacts with national entities so that the intention expressed by businessmen linked to the hotel industry in the UAE to establish partnerships and investments in the Angolan market is implemented".
The guarantee was given during the meetings that the ambassador had, separately, with Nasser Al Nowais, president of the Rotana group, and with Siegfried Nierhaus, vice president for the Middle East at Steigenberger Hotels AG/Deutsche Hospitality.
In this sense, the note also mentions that Albino Malungo made preliminary contact with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment and Angolan hotel entrepreneurs, so that "the intention expressed by the aforementioned business groups has results in the future".
The Rotana group was created in 1992 through a partnership between Nasser Al Nowais and Selim El Zyr, having opened its first property in Abu Dhabi. It is currently one of the leading hotel management companies in Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Turkey.
Deutsche Hospitality is "the general brand of the German hotel company Steigenberger Hotels AG, a member of the Huazhu Group since 2020. The group was founded by Albert Steigenberger in 1930 and was managed as a family business by the descendants of the founder who died in 1958", says the note, adding that in January of last year, the group's portfolio included "a total of around 150 hotels on three continents, of which more than 30 are under construction or planning".
