PGR announces seizure of General ‘Dino’ share capital at Unitel

The Attorney General's Office (PGR) announced in Luanda that the National Asset Recovery Service "seized 25 percent of the shares held by the commercial company Geni in the share capital of Unitel".

Geni is owned by General Leopoldino do Nascimento 'Dino', who was part of the Presidency of the Republic at the time of former President José Eduardo dos Santos and former Vice President Manuel Vicente.

The 25 percent seized constitutes the part of Unitel's share capital that was owned by General Leopoldino do Nascimento "Dino".

In a note to which Lusa had access, the PGR explains that the seizure stems from a process of patrimonial and financial investigation, related to the criminal process initiated by the National Directorate of Investigation and Criminal Action (DNIAP), an organ of the Attorney General's Office. of the Republic.

"The Institute for the Management of State Assets and Shares (IGAPE) was appointed as the trustee of the aforementioned shares", as stipulated in the Criminal Procedure Code and Presidential Decree No.

With this apprehension, the State now holds the entire share capital of the company Unitel, a provider of services in the area of ​​mobile telecommunications, having been the first to operate with GSM technology in the national market.

Half of Unitel's share capital is held by state oil company Sonangol, which took the 25 percent that belonged to businesswoman Isabel dos Santos, daughter of José Eduardo dos Santos, through a decision of the Supreme Court of the British Virgin Islands.
