It all started around 11 pm on Sunday with a fight between young people in the Cajanga neighborhood, commune of Dombe Grande, where one of them was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital.
A group of youths, their rivals, then went to the hospital with an ax and machetes to try to remove and lynch the wounded man, having been stopped by police forces, security guards and health professionals who were picketing.
Infuriated, the youths then began to throw stones and other blunt objects at the health unit's building, breaking glass on the front door and forcing the police to shoot in the air, "which allowed the situation to be contained", according to the statement. from the police.
The youths then returned to the neighbourhood, where they vandalized and set fire to the house of an alleged family member of one of the masterminds of the conflict, then fled.
However, the police managed to arrest six of the alleged suspects, two of whom were already in the municipality of Canjala, when they were trying to escape in a goods truck.
The provincial command also said that efforts were being made to capture those involved in "that deviant behavior".
The Ministry of Health, through its provincial office, regretted the attempted aggression that targeted health professionals and the damage to the glass doors that give access to the emergency room, as well as the X-ray section of that hospital unit, repudiating the "criminal and irresponsible" act.
