According to the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, from January 1976 to the present day, 17,583,485 ID cases have been processed. The ministerial department also indicated that 12,286,543 Angolans have an identity card, with 2,541,279 of these documents having been issued in 2021.
The information was advanced in a note regarding the Identifier Day, which was marked this Wednesday. The date pays tribute to the day on which the first Identity Card of Angola as an independent country was issued, attributed to the then President of the Republic, António Agostinho Neto.
"The moment is for reflection on the activities already carried out in the scope of the attribution of citizenship to all Angolans", refers the document, cited by Angop.
For 2022, the Ministry of Justice envisages the expansion of identification services at the level of the communes, as well as the completion of the installation of posts in diplomatic missions.
There are also plans to integrate the Identity Card databases with birth, property, car and commercial records.
