One missing person and four rescued after sinking in the Kwanza Norte

One woman is missing and four were rescued alive after the sinking of an artisanal vessel on the Lucala II river, in Massangano, Cuanza Norte province, the spokesman for local firefighters said Tuesday.

:

According to Hélder Milagre, six people were on board the artisanal vessel, four passengers having been rescued by the Civil Protection and Fire Service, continuing the search to rescue a woman.

"A citizen of, apparently, 50 years old remains missing. Four citizens were rescued by the fire services and, fortunately, another one, totaling six, managed to free himself from the situation," said Hélder Milagre, speaking to Angolan public radio.

Hélder Milagre said that search operations continue to be able to "assess whether, in fact, the missing citizen is drowned or has also managed to get rid of the situation".

The spokesman for the Civil Protection and Fire Service of Cuanza Norte called on the population to avoid going to the rivers at this time when the flow is high due to the rains.
