The invitation was made during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Senegal, Aissata Taal Sall.

According to a note from the Government, made available on her Facebook, at the end of the meeting, the Senegalese minister considered that the invitation made by João Lourenço "is an important step towards deepening and improving the cooperation that is intended to be built from now on".

She also took the opportunity to mention that the Angolan embassy in Senegal is already functioning, "so they intend to do the same on Angolan soil".

Aissata Taal Sall also said that during the meeting, João Lourenço recalled that there is a 46-year delay in cooperation between both countries "which forces them to run to make up for lost time".

For this reason, the two countries signed "four legal instruments for the re-launch of bilateral cooperation, with more agreements being prepared in other areas".

The Senegalese government official also showed her country's interest in gathering Angola's experience in the field of oil exploration: "Angola has been exploring its oil for decades. Therefore, we are more interested in learning from Angola, the way in which it exploit its oil, but also what Angola did wrong in this area, for us to avoid", he said.

He also considered that Angola and Senegal play an important role in the development of the African continent, mainly in the region of Southern Africa and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), "where each one is part and has the capacity to promote reintegration and integration of other countries in these two sub-regions".

According to the note, Aissata Taal Sall is the first entity from Senegal to be received at the Presidential Palace, after the Angolan embassy in that country opened.
