Sílvia Lutucuta referred, after a round at the main health units in Luanda, that trauma, excessive use of alcohol and traffic accidents also stand out among the occurrences.

"It means that some are not complying with the norms or measures decreed in the decree of the state of calamity [of prevention against covid-19]", said the minister, in statements to Angolan public radio, noting that the majority of patients "they are young people, who come drunk from parties, who were not at home".

The head of the Health portfolio stressed that "malaria remains a major concern", with complications and the need for transfusions.

"Several transfusions were also performed in the various health units, whether in medical or surgical patients," she said.

According to the minister, at this time of the festive season, there are "non-compliances" in the celebrations, such as some excesses in food and alcohol consumption, with cases of uncompensated hypertension or diabetes.

"But in terms of medical causes, malaria continues to be a problem. We believe that we will continue to work towards improving this part and controlling these endemic diseases", she stressed.
