Cost of living in the country grew by around 27 percent in December 2021

In the last month of 2021, the cost of living in the country grew by 27.03 percent. According to the conclusions of the National Consumer Price Index (IPCN), released on Wednesday, 12 January, by the National Statistics Institute, this is the worst change recorded in the last four years.

Prices, in monthly terms, increased by 2.10 percent, causing the cumulative and annual rates to both rise to 27 percent.

"The year-on-year change stands at 27.03 percent, registering an increase of 1.93 percentage points compared to that observed in the same period of the previous year (December 2020)", indicates the IPCN, adding that the current year-on-year change , compared to the previous month, there was an "acceleration of 0.05 percentage points".

The data also reveal that the "Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages" category registered the biggest increase in prices, with a variation of around 2.46 percent. The following are the classes of "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco", "Furniture, domestic equipment and maintenance" and "Clothing and footwear", with variations of 2.20 percent, 2.10 percent and 2.08 percent, respectively.

Among the provinces that registered a greater variation in prices, in December 2021, are Namibe (2.27 percent), followed by Huíla and Malanje (both with 2.26 percent), Cuanza Sul (2.24 percent). ) and Cuanza Norte (2.22 percent).

The provinces that had the smallest variation were Bengo with 1.81 percent, Huambo and Moxico, both with 1.82 percent, and Uige with 1.94 percent.

In the capital, on a monthly basis, there was a variation of 2.20 percent, bringing the accumulated rate to 30.43 percent.
