A statement sent to VerAngola states that this initiative by the Cucarte project (a partnership between Cuca and InterContinental Luanda Miramar) brings together works by several plastic artists who competed in the competition launched in November last year, and which challenged them to "present their vision of today's Luanda".

"Created by 47 plastic artists who could present a maximum number of two works to the competition, and 70 competing works, the selection jury, composed of Mestre and Professor Van, Cerveja Cuca and InterContinental Luanda Miramar, identified a group of 10 artists finalists – Benigno Tengo, Danick Bumba, Gato Preto, Hiara Guerra, Imaculada, Johnson Mufaba, Kondi Kiyambo, Maiomona Vua, Uólofe Griot and Yasiel The winners were Danick Bumba, third, Johnson Mufaba, second, Kondi being the plastic artist winner of this contest", can be read in the note.

The second and third runners-up, John Mufaba and Danick Bumba, received vouchers from the hotel, allowing them to enjoy a night's stay and breakfast for two.

Kondi, winner of the contest, was awarded 500,000 kwanzas as well as the possibility of his art being transformed into a limited edition Cuca, exclusive to InterContinental Luanda Miramar.

Nuno Neves, the hotel's general manager, quoted in the note, said it was an honor for that hotel to "be able to honor Luanda" on the day it celebrates 446 years.

"It makes perfect sense for us to support an initiative of this nature, aimed at the community and those who need it most, and to support culture and our visual artists, helping to give more visibility to the expression of affection they have for Luanda, which is evident in these fantastic works", he said.

In turn, Dominick Maia Tanner from ELA-Espaço Luanda Arte/AM-ARTE considered that celebration as a gift to the capital: "This celebration is our present for Luanda. A present that in the future will serve as an archive for future generations Angolans and not only".

"The Cucarte project is an initiative that is very dear to us and that allows us to make known what is best in the art scene in Angola and on the African continent. It is a moment of great pride for the Cuca brand, to be able to celebrate the anniversary of Luanda, honoring this city that we all love, hand in hand with 47 brilliant artists who painted 'A Minha Luanda' today", considered Sara Bayyurt, marketing manager of Grupo Castel.

The note also notes that all competing artists will be represented with a work in a collective exhibition, which will be available to the public from 26 January to 18 February, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at the InterContinental Luanda Miramar.

"His pieces will be for sale with 70 percent of the work's sale value going to the artist and 30 percent going to the important social cause 'Change 1's Life'".
