Located near Luanda Bay, in front of Avenida Marginal, the Church of Nossa Senhora da Nazaré dates back to the 17th century.
In 1664, André Vidal de Negreiros, creator of the liberation of northeastern Brazil from Dutch domination and governor of Angola, had the church built, as a way of thanking God for having managed to survive a shipwreck on a trip from Brazil to Angola.
Baroque style, decorated with white and blue tiles, the church was classified as a National Monument in 1922.
