Government approves proposed law that regulates medically assisted reproduction

The Council of Ministers considered this Thursday, to send to the National Assembly, the proposal of the Law of Medically Assisted Human Reproduction, which will facilitate the treatment of Angolan couples with infertility.

According to a communiqué of the Council of Ministers, to which Lusa had access, the proposed law will regulate the use of techniques such as artificial insemination, laboratory fecundation or 'in vitro' fertilization, pre-implantation genetic diagnosis and other laboratory techniques of manipulation of gametes or embryos, to be performed in authorized centers and by duly qualified health professionals.

"The approval of this diploma will allow Angolan couples with infertility and procreation difficulties to be treated in the country, thus avoiding their evacuation abroad, reducing the financial burden of the citizens and the State and other constraints arising from it," the document states.

In the field of road safety, the rules of application, installation and signaling of speed reduction and traffic calming measures were approved in order to reduce accidents.

As part of the readjustment process of policies regarding the protection of personal data, a law was approved defining the fees due to the Data Protection Agency, for the provision of services relating to the registration of files and granting of authorization for the processing of personal data, as well as the respective settlement and payment model.

The Council of Ministers also examined documents in the field of public finances, including the balance sheet report on the implementation of the General State Budget (GSB) for the third quarter of 2021 and the rules of implementation of the GSB for the economic year 2021.
