MPLA Political Bureau welcomes parliamentary debate on combating impunity

The MPLA's Political Bureau welcomed the initiative of its parliamentary group in promoting the monthly debate in the National Assembly on combating impunity as a factor for good governance.

In the final communiqué of the 1st ordinary meeting of the Political Bureau of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) this year, led by the party leader, João Lourenço, the executive is encouraged to continue with the measures against corruption and other harmful practices that jeopardize the political, economic and social stability of the country.

At the meeting, the party's political agenda for the current year was approved, to be presented on the 30th of this month in Bié province.

The 72-member Political Bureau was also briefed on the General State Account for 2018, recognizing that since the 2011 fiscal year its preparation has been regular and substantially improved, with greater accuracy and transparency in public management.

During the meeting, issues of the party's internal life were discussed, including the preparation and holding of the VII congress of the MPLA women's organization, having validated the proposals for candidates for the post of provincial secretaries, to be elected in the respective assemblies of balance and renewal of mandates, in addition to having approved the logo of the VII ordinary congress of the party.

On the covid-19 pandemic, the MPLA's Political Bureau encouraged the executive to continue adopting measures to mitigate the negative impact of the disease on the lives of families and businesses, reiterating its call to the population to continue rigorously to comply with the measures stipulated in the decree on the state of public calamity in force in the country.
