Algerian President invites João Lourenço to visit Algeria

The Algerian President, Abdel-madjid Tebboune, invited his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço, to visit Algeria, an invitation already accepted by the Angolan head of state and whose date will now be chosen through diplomatic channels.

The announcement was made this Thursday by the diplomatic offices of the two countries, as part of the visit of the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sabri Boukadoum, to Luanda, between 13 and 14 January, during which a message was delivered from the Algerian President to João Lourenço.

The joint statement stressed that the two delegations "reaffirmed the importance of the relations of friendship, fraternity and cooperation that exist between the two countries, expressing the desire to continue to strengthen these ties".

During the working meeting, the intensification and strengthening of cooperation relations that existed for 38 years were discussed, namely, in the diplomatic, economic, commercial, defense and internal order domains, mineral and oil resources, tourism, staff training, promotion of investments, among others.

In a note released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Téte António said that Angola has already signed 16 cooperation agreements with Algeria, and at the moment negotiations are underway for another 18 which, "when concluded, will introduce a new dynamic in the development process of the areas of mutual interest ".

In terms of multilateral issues, "the parties expressed their concern about the resurgence of outbreaks of tension and instability in the different regions in which they operate, and took the opportunity to reaffirm their determination in the fight against terrorism", also referred the joint statement.
