Country notifies more 77 cases of covid-19, one death and 61 recoveries

The country registered 77 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, one more death and 61 patients were considered recovered, according to the epidemiological bulletin of health authorities.

The new infections were diagnosed in Luanda (39), Moxico (21), Bié, Huambo (6), Benguela (2) and Kwanza Sul (1), 54 cases being male and 23 female, aged between 8 and 81 years.

In this period one more death was notified, as well as 61 patients considered recovered, with ages ranging from 6 to 72 years.

The laboratories processed 1708 samples, in a cumulative of 353,356, with a positivity rate of 5.5 percent.

With the new data, the country now counts 19,553 cases, of which 17,388 were recovered, 1703 active and 462 deaths, with 192 patients admitted.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,140,687 deaths resulting from more than 99.6 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

Africa has registered in the last 24 hours another 605 deaths from covid-19 for a total of 85,883 deaths, and 17,195 new cases of infection, according to the latest official data of the pandemic in the continent.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the African Union (Africa CDC), the total number of infected is 3,455,328 and that of recovered in the 55 member states of the organization in the last 24 hours was 27,567, for a total of 2,930,863 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Southern Africa remains the most affected region, with 1,643,547 infected and 45,220 dead. South Africa alone, the most affected country by covid-19 in the continent, registers 1,417,537 cases and 41,117 deaths.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
