Covid-19: country reports 37 new cases and announces 667 recoveries

The country registered 37 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, while 667 people recovered from the disease, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health (DNSP) released this Sunday.

The new cases were diagnosed in Kwanza Sul (18), Luanda (12) Cabinda (4), Benguela (2) and Zaire (1), 20 males and 17 females, aged between 5 months and 58 years.

The ages of the recovered patients are between 1 and 54 years.

Angola currently has 18,193 cases, of which 13,872 have recovered, 3905 are active, including 9 critical and 8 severe, and 416 have resulted in death.

The laboratories processed 1017 samples per RT-PCR, in a cumulative of 323,467 samples, with a positivity rate of 5.6 percent.

The covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,926,570 deaths from more than 89 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.

Africa has registered in the last 24 hours more 658 deaths from covid-19 and 35,205 new cases of infection, bringing the total numbers to 72,121 and 3,021,769, respectively, according to the latest official data of the pandemic in the continent.
