Luxembourg company to build LGP platform in Angolan offshore

Subsea 7, a London-based Luxembourg company, will install a Lean Gas Platform (LGP) system in Block 0 offshore Angola. The project was awarded last week after the Luxembourg company signed a contract valued at 150 to 300 million dollars with Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (CABGOC).

Subsea 7 explained in a press release published on its website that the platform will be installed under the Sanha Lean Gas Connection (SLGC) project. This project, according to the note, "comprises the construction and installation of the Lean Gas Platform system in Block 0 in the Angolan Sea, at a water depth of approximately 70 meters".

According to the note, the platform's manufacture begins this year, extending until 2022, while offshore operations are expected to begin next year: "Production will take place at the Sonamet shipyard in Lobito, from 2021 to 2022, while offshore operations will take place from 2022 and 2023".

The project management and engineering will be done from the company's offices in Paris and Lisbon.

Gilles Lafaye, Senior Vice President for Africa, Middle East and Caspian Region, quoted in the note, said the company is very happy that the project has been awarded to them: "We are delighted that we have been awarded this contract by CABGOC following a public tender.

"This is the result of a long term collaboration with the client and a track record of delivering successful projects. The project reinforces Subsea 7's presence in Angola and our commitment to support the African energy industry," he concluded.

Subsea 7 is present in 33 countries and offers offshore energy services as well as engineering and installation projects at all water depths.
