Cuanza International University will be born in Bié and teach engineering, technology and science

Several undergraduate and graduate courses will be taught at Bié. The province will have a new private higher education institution - under Angolan law - called the International University of Cuanza.

:

The information was provided by Maria Sambo, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation. At the end of the session of the Council of Ministers meeting this Wednesday, the official told the press that the institution will teach courses in the areas of engineering, technology, health sciences and linguistics.

The session, guided by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, also approved the General Regulation for Scholarships for the Higher Education Sub-System. This diploma establishes the rules of the processes inherent to the awarding of scholarships at the level of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, in national and international institutions. Students with few resources should benefit.

The meeting, which lasted more than five hours, also served for the members of the Executive to give “green light” to the Regulation of Distance and Semi-Presential Teaching Modalities in the Higher Education Subsystem. In this way, citizens who live in locations where there is no physical infrastructure for higher education institutions will be able to opt for this modality.

This will be a way to increase access to higher education in the territory, however, Maria Sambo clarified that distance and semi-face-to-face education should work in a higher education institution with at least one positive face-to-face assessment cycle.
