In recent weeks, there have been several complaints about the increase in the value of tuition fees in private education, which has led to several protests by students and parents.
In view of the situation, the PGR, as part of its competence to monitor the general legality and defend collective and diffuse interests, promoted a meeting on Tuesday with representatives of the National Association of Private Education (ANEP), the Association of Private Higher Education Institutions of Angola, the National Institute for Consumer Protection, the Department of Prices and Subsidies of IGAPE and several private education institutions.
According to a note from the PGR, distributed on Friday, it was made clear at the meeting that the value of the tuition fees can only be changed by authorization from the Ministry of Finance, requested from the competent department and should only be operated if duly authorized, under penalty of liability under the law.
On the 11th, about 30 students of the anti-propine movement held a "funeral" vigil in Luanda, to draw attention to the impact of the fees on the poorest university students, appealing to the executive to back off the intention.
