According to MEA Executive Secretary, Joaquim da Costa Lutambi, "the insensitivity" of the rulers persists with regard to the education and learning system in the country that "still suffers from countless irregularities".
"Among all the constraints stand out the possibility of many students being left out of the education system in 2020, due to age as well as the disorders created by the Ministry of Education", said the association leader at a press conference in Luanda.
Enrollment for the general education and university subsystem in Angola for the academic year 2020 started on 2 January and runs until next Saturday, with many complaints from parents and guardians about the delay in issuing certificates, especially in high school.
The MEA condemns the slowness in awarding certificates, pointing to "lack of coordination" between Angolan ministries of education and higher education, as secondary education begins in late January and in university education in March.
"We do not understand how applications started in January and a number of constraints on students and carers, as schools do not issue certificates on time and do not allow applications with provisional documents", he noted.
Faced with all these "fuzzy indicators", the MEA urged the executive to "extend the enrollment period" in general education and public universities until the first half of February 2020, threatening protests.
"Under penalty of triggering a series of disputes and claims at national level to demand our rights," said Joaquim da Costa Lutambi.
