Luanda Leaks: State inspection will “at any time” audit Sonangol

The General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) assured this Tuesday that "at any time" it will audit Sonangol, but if it receives any analysis from the oil company, it will "assess whether it corresponds to technical and legal assumptions".

:

"We do not need Sonangol to send us the audit report, we are going to meet him, but if, for example, he does and we have access, we will assess whether this audit corresponded to the technical and legal assumptions, but we are going to the body itself to audit ", said the assistant inspector general, Eduardo Semente, questioned by Lusa.

In relation to a specific period for authorship to the state oil company, the head of IGAE spoke about an annual plan for inspection and inspection, adding: "At any moment we will go there".

The deputy inspector general was speaking this Tuesday in Luanda, on the sidelines of a lecture referring to the 28th anniversary of the IGAE, marked on 17 January.

The audit requested by Sonangol to the management of Isabel dos Santos has already been completed and the data were sent to the Attorney General's Office (PGR) of Angola and IGAE indicated, on Monday, the source of the oil company.

The international consultant was hired in February 2018 to check the accounts of the daughter of former President José Eduardo dos Santos, who chaired the board of directors of the oil company between June 2016 and November 2017, until she was dismissed by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

"The audit is finished and the results have been submitted to the competent entities", including the Ministry of Finance and Mining Resources and Petroleum, in addition to IGAE and PGR, the same source said, refusing to reveal the conclusions.

Sonangol currently works with a total of about 50 consultants distributed by several teams.

The company is implementing a Regeneration Program that aims to re-focus on oil activities: prospecting, research and production of crude oil and natural gas, refining, liquefaction of natural gas, transport, storage, distribution and marketing of derivative products.

KPMG was chosen in February 2018 to audit Sonangol's accounts, after being passed over by the consultant PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC), chosen by the previous management.
