João Lourenço attende the take possession of his Mozambique counterpart

The President, João Lourenço, leaves Luanda this Tuesday to participate in the inauguration of his counterpart Filipe Nyusi as President of the Republic of Mozambique, informed the Civil House.

Other heads of state are already in Maputo, such as the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who arrived on Monday morning in the Mozambican capital for a five-day visit, where he will attend the inauguration ceremony of Filipe Nyusi on Wednesday.

Filipe Nyusi was re-elected on October 15 for a second term.

In the general elections held in Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, president of the Liberation Front of Mozambique (Frelimo) - a party in power since independence - was re-elected President of Mozambique, in the first round, with 73 percent of the vote, according to official results.

The results of the elections are contested by the opposition - Resistência Nacional Moçambicana (Renamo) and Movimento Democrático de Moçambique (MDM).
