The information was released by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, this Wednesday, after signing of an agreement with the Banco de Poupança e Crédito (BPC), which became the ninth institution to join the programme aimed at boosting the domestic productive capacity of 54 goods identified in Prodesi (Programme to Support National Production, Export Diversification and Import Substitution).

According to the document, the banks declared to have approved 23 requests for credit under the CAP, between September and December, having received 107 requests for financing totalling 283 billion kwanzas.

The largest amount was allocated to Biocom, for the production of sugar and derivatives in the province of Malanje (5.7 billion kwanzas), followed by Fazenda Girassol, with a maize and bean production project in Zaire (3.8 billion kwanzas).

Among the measures still pending to increase credit on which the Ministry of Economy is working are the capitalisation of the Credit Guarantee Fund, and the immunisation of the exchange risk of the credit line granted by the African Development Bank (ADB) to the BPC.

The immunisation of the foreign exchange risk of the credit line from Deutsch Bank to Banco de Desenvolvimento Angola, as well as the negotiation with the BPC for the remainder of the credit line granted to BPC, in the amount of USD 205 million, to be operated by BDA, are also in the government plans.
