According to the Consumer Situation Survey for the third quarter of 2024, prepared by INE and released this Monday, the majority of respondents, in a sample of 3000 families from 18 provinces, expect an increase in the prices of goods and services in the next 12 months.

For six consecutive semesters, the Consumer Confidence Indicator in Angola has maintained a downward trend, highlighting the "low degree of optimism" of Angolan families, says the study consulted by Lusa.

According to the research, the forecast of an increase in unemployment, low expectations related to the economic situation of the country and the financial situation of families in the next 12 months, as well as the current economic situation of households, negatively influenced the degree of optimism of families.

Households, when asked whether in the country's current economic situation they think it is possible to save money, 22 percent said yes, a drop of 0.9 percentage points compared to the same quarter last year.

Even so, two in every hundred respondents said they intend to buy a car in the next two years, an intention that fell 0.4 percentage points compared to the same quarter last year.

Regarding the purchase or construction of a house in the next two years, 11 out of every hundred respondents said yes, "with absolute certainty" that they intend to buy or build a house, compared to the same period last year, an increase of one percentage point was observed.

INE indicated that 50.5 percent of respondents are aged between 25 and 44 years old and 6.5 percent correspond to the age group of 15 to 24 years old.
