In the game, played this Monday, Angola managed to take the lead before the end of the first half. When the half-time whistle sounded, the score read 15-14, in favor of Angola.

However, the advantage did not remain and the game ended in a draw (26-26).

The national team was in group D, also composed of France, Slovenia and Iceland.

Angola's inaugural game at the World Cup was against France, with whom they lost 29-30. In the game with Slovenia, Angola was also defeated, losing 24-30.

Both Angola and Iceland were coming off two defeats when they met on the field. When they tied, they had to look at the tiebreaker system. According to Angop, in the tiebreaker system between the two teams, the country scored a total of 79 goals, having conceded 80 (this corresponds to a difference of one goal), while Iceland scored 72 goals and conceded 88 (so a difference of 16 goals).

Thus, the national team came third in the group, with one point. As the top three classified in each group advance to the next phase, Angola thus secured, according to Angop, passage to the group of the 24 best teams, improving the classification obtained in the 2021 edition, in Spain, where it was in 25th position.

Now, the team's next game in the world championship is against Norway. The match is scheduled for this Wednesday, December 6th, at 8:30 pm.

In this next phase, Angola will still face the teams from Austria and South Korea on the field.
