MAPTSS clarifies that there will be no time allowance on post-festival days

The public service will not have time tolerance in the days following the Christmas and New Year festivities. The Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security clarified that both December 26th and January 2nd of next year are “normal working days”.

The information was clarified this Tuesday by the guardianship through a statement.

In the document, cited by Jornal de Angola, the ministry also says that "it is the responsibility of the human resources of each public administration body, organization and service to ensure compliance" with this measure.

Furthermore, the regulation also clarifies that shift workers are not covered by this circular.

This year Christmas Eve is celebrated on Sunday, with Christmas Day being celebrated on Monday. Thus, the working week will begin on the Tuesday immediately after Christmas (December 26th).

A week later, the same will happen at the end of the year. New Year's Eve will take place on Sunday, with 2024 starting on Monday, with the first day of work in 2024 being, for the most part, on Tuesday, January 2nd.

It should be remembered that, although the ministry did not grant a 'tolerance' in the days following the Christmas festivities, last month a 'tolerance' was granted on the day after the All Souls' Day holiday. However, this measure forced the civil service to work an additional hour and a half a day between October 26th and November 1st.
