According to the communal administrator of Cusse, Laurinda Henriques, the incident took place on Christmas Eve, when the victims, all from the same family, were at home socializing.
"In the village of Chilanda, sector of Chiueca, the family organized a party, it started to rain, and a thunderstorm broke out, which killed three elements, all male. Six were also burned – four girls and two boys. They are in a critical condition, but we managed to bring them to the municipal hospital", said the official, speaking to Angolan public radio.
Laurinda Henriques underlined that this is not the first time that a situation of this kind has occurred, expressing concern.
In turn, Isabel Gaspar, a nurse at the municipal hospital, stressed that the victims arrived at that health unit at around 2:00 am, but the case was registered at 8:00 pm, justifying the delay due to the distance.
The professional said that the patients are in a reasonable state and should be discharged in the next few days.
