UNICEF launches second phase of the “Internet Que Kuia” platform

UNICEF launched the second phase of the “Internet Que Kuia” program in Luanda, a digital platform that provides young people, adolescents, pregnant women and caregivers with relevant information on their main concerns.

:

The platform contains tips on children's rights, care during pregnancy and with newborns, vaccination, nutrition, mental and sexual health of adolescents, as well as digital security, says a publication on the Fund's page.

Known as the “Internet of Good Things”, this was launched internationally in 2015, and in Angola the name of the initiative was adapted to Internet Que Kuia (https://ao.goodinternet.org), and presented publicly for the first time in 2018. country, the platform has registered more than 500,000 queries.

The second phase of the initiative was presented this Tuesday to students at the Instituto de Saúde Divina Providência, in Luanda, and has more content for young people and teenagers, differing here from the first phase of the project, which is more aimed at parents and caregivers of children.

The objective is to allow more young people and adolescents to have access to relevant information for personal protection and development, says UNICEF. The motto is that information can change people's lives. "An informed mother can protect her baby from many diseases; an informed community leader can change the lives of her community by bringing about positive behavior changes; an informed teen can help friends and peers avoid HIV and end myths related to sexuality, while children can learn about their rights", says the publication.

The launch event was attended by the Secretary of State for Pre-School and Primary Education, Pacheco Francisco, the Municipal Director of Education in the Municipality of Kilamba Kiaxi, Félix João, the senior manager of Social Responsibility at UNITEL, Cecília Fernandes, the deputy representative of UNICEF in Angola, Andrew Trevett, and more than 100 students from the Instituto Médio.
