Heróis de Azul and VS Consultores prepare to launch an awareness campaign on Food Safety

Heróis de Azul and VS Consultores held a workshop at the headquarters of Standard Bank, in the municipality of Talatona, with a view to presenting the awareness campaign on hygiene and food safety standards, which they intend to implement, starting in January 2023, with companies and families that work with food handling on a daily basis.

"It was possible to verify during the year 2022 that many of the companies present in the Angolan market have not complied with some of the standards of hygiene and food safety, necessary for the prevention of diseases. We, as members of a social institution, consider it is also our responsibility to look at aspects within our society that need attention, and provide our support, always with the perspective of better contributing to the well-being of all", informed Jelson Gaieta.

With an index of companies in the Angolan market, which show little concern in relation to the basic principles of food safety, Heróis de Azul and VS Consultores created a partnership with a view to creating a seal of certification of compliance with hygiene standards and Food Safety, with the aim of transmitting the necessary confidence to customers and consumers.

For those involved, it is necessary to raise awareness among families, companies and people who work mainly in the hotel, catering, food production and distribution sectors, as they recognize that these are the potential means by which consumers adhere to and in which there is a greater probability of contracting diseases caused by lack of care in the treatment of food.

"There are several diseases transmitted by food, such as typhoid fever, cholera and gastroenteritis, among others, many of which are caused by poor hygiene of food, undercooked food or improper food preservation. awareness and sensitization among food operators, so that care is taken and that there is greater disease prevention" says Álvaro Figueiredo, consultant at VS Consultores.

Based on the plan presented, manuals will be developed on procedures for good hygiene and food safety practices, in addition to workshops, training and consultancy actions, completely free of charge, from January 2023, to be disseminated to families and companies of specified branches.

The entire campaign will have the participation of health professionals, nutritionists, public figures, hotel and catering professionals, with the aim of ensuring a greater reach and impact of the action.

The workshop had the participation of several leading professionals, such as Evandro Lourenço, Hélio Silva, Dalva Freitas, Anselmo Silvestre, Agnaldo Lucas, Edna Alegria and Felisberta Cristóvão, who made known how their intervention will be during the campaign and their expectations about the same.
