Covid-19: country with 91 new infections and no deaths in the last 24 hours

The country registered this Sunday 91 new cases and 278 people recovered, with no deaths in the last 24 hours, adding now the country 17,240 infections, 399 deaths and 10,254 recovered patients, announced the Ministry of Health.

Data presented by the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, indicate that infections in the last 24 hours are distributed throughout the provinces of Lunda Sul (44), Lunda Norte (19), Luanda (16), Bié (4), Huambo (4), Cabinda (2), Moxico and Zaire (1, each).

Recoveries in the last 24 hours were 238 in Luanda and 40 in Namibe, said Franco Mufinda, noting that the country now has a recovery rate of 59.4 percent.

According to the government, 6587 cases are active, of which three are in critical condition, five severe, 70 moderate, 103 mild and 6406 asymptomatic, and 181 patients are being monitored at our treatment centers.

In the last 24 hours, 1031 samples were processed, of which 91 were positive, giving a daily positivity rate of 8.8 percent, while the cumulative RT-PCR-based test points to 303,818 samples processed to date, of which 17,294 are positive, giving a cumulative positivity rate of 5.7 percent.

Franco Mufinda also released comparative data from the last two weeks, i.e. from 13 to 20 December and from 20 to 27 December, where it was concluded that an increase of cases, of 140 new infections, a rate of about 30.7 percent, was observed.

"As for assets, we observed a reduction of 176 assets when comparing the two weeks, a margin of 69 percent and we also observed that there was a reduction in the recovered, comparing the two weeks, of 32 people recovered (4.6 percent)," said the ruler, pointing out that deaths were also reduced, with four fewer records, pointing to a reduction rate of 25 percent.

Regarding the testing at the entry and exit points of Luanda, in the last 24 hours, 981 people were tested, 800 male and 181 female, of which 112 were reactive, representing an exposure rate of 11.4 percent, however, no case was found in the confirmation test.

The covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,758,026 deaths resulting from more than 80.2 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected at the end of December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
