Chivukuvuku criticizes constitutional for rejecting legalization of PRA-JÁ

Politician Abel Chivukuvuku contested the decision of the Constitutional Court that validated only 4,000 of the 23,492 signatures collected to legalize his political project PRA-JÁ Servir Angola, stating that the court "does politics and not jurisprudence."

:

"Unfortunately we have a Constitutional Court that does not make jurisprudence, does politics and eventually receives orders," he said at a press conference, regretting the situation.

The Angolan Renaissance Party - Together for Angola installation committee (PRA-JÁ) - Serving Angola handed over 23,492 signatures to the court last November 6, including statements of acceptance, copies of identity cards and residence certificates of its militants .

At least 7500 signatures are legally required by the Constitutional Court to legalize political parties, so last week the Constitutional Court announced that only 3997 delivered by PRA-JÁ Servir Angola met the legal requirements.

Xavier Jaime, coordinator of the party's installation committee, called the situation "merciless persecution" against Abel Chivukuvuku demanding the return of the remaining invalid cases.

"The presiding judge of the Constitutional Court has launched a ruthless persecution of Abel Chivukuvuku as a politician and all who follow him. For example, Cabinda's municipal administration has invalidated the cases without reason, because the citizens' ticket numbers are here".

Abel Chivukuvuku, who led Angola's Broad Salvation Convergence - Electoral Coalition, until February this year, did not rule out the possibility of holding demonstrations across the country.

"Citizens of many provinces, which many wanted to make demonstrations, we have chosen to ponder, to moderate. This does not mean that we do not recognize the indignation of the people. I also want to make it clear that if one day I feel that I need to make a demonstration, I will be at the head", fired, voicing "disgust" with the case.
