According to the prelate, quoted by Angola's Catholic broadcaster, the country continues to experience a profound economic crisis with records of the "diminishing" purchasing power and quality of life of all citizens and the "increase in crime".
Belmiro Chissengueti, also a spokesman for the Angola and São Tomé Episcopal Conference, who was speaking in Cabinda during the diocese's Christmas greetings ceremony, also expressed "satisfaction" with the emergence of structuring projects in the region.
"In the midst of this crisis, we are pleased to hear about the emergence in our province of projects to leverage the economy, structuring projects needed to normalize life in this part of our country," he said.
The prelate augurs that the structuring works in the region, some at the beginning and others at the conclusion, benefit, above all, the young people eager for employment "so that wealth can revolve around those who invest and who are also the beneficiaries of these works".
President João Lourenço said on Monday that while there are still many difficulties, the country "knows progress in the defense of the fundamental rights of citizens, the demand for greater rigor in the management of public resources, the fight against nepotism and impunity and the fight against corruption ".
In his New Year message, João Lourenço assured that his Government "remains committed" to creating the conditions to provide the majority of the population with better living conditions. "Particular attention has been paid by the executive to the social sector, with a view to better serving populations in education, health, energy, sanitation and drinking water," he said.
Segundo o prelado, citado pela Emissora Católica de Angola, o país continua a viver uma profunda crise económica com registos da "diminuição" do poder de compra e da qualidade da vida de todos os cidadãos e "aumento da criminalidade".
Belmiro Chissengueti, também porta-voz da Conferência Episcopal de Angola e São Tomé (CEAST), que falava, em Cabinda, durante a cerimónia de cumprimentos de natal da diocese, manifestou, por outro lado, "satisfação" pelo surgimento de projectos estruturantes na província.
"No meio desta crise, ouvimos com satisfação o surgimento na nossa província de projectos tendentes a alavancar a economia, projectos estruturantes e necessários para que se normalize a vida nesta parte em que nós habitamos", afirmou.
O prelado augura que as obras estruturantes na região, umas em início e outras em conclusão, beneficiem, sobretudo os jovens ávidos pelo emprego "para que a riqueza possa girar a volta dos que investem e que são igualmente os beneficiários dessas obras".
O Presidente João Lourenço, disse, na Segunda-feira, que apesar de ainda serem muitas as dificuldades sentidas, o país "conhece progressos no campo da defesa dos direitos fundamentais do cidadão, da exigência de maior rigor na gestão dos recursos públicos, do combate ao nepotismo e à impunidade e da luta contra a corrupção".
Na sua mensagem de ano novo, João Lourenço assegurou que o seu Governo "continua comprometido e empenhado" em criar as condições para proporcionar à maioria da população melhores condições de vida. "Atenção particular vem sendo prestada pelo executivo ao setor social, com vista a melhor servir as populações na educação, na saúde, na energia, no saneamento básico e na água potável", realçou.
