According to the director general of Turaco Aviation, Albano da Costa, within the scope of this partnership, three aircraft (helicopters) should be acquired, the first of which has been in Angola since last week, and should start operating in January 2022.
"Our purpose is to serve the oil sector as our market is very favorable for these offshore operations and so, with few operators and Turaco being a newly created company, we had to look for partners with vast experience in operations. offshore and Falcon Aviation offers this requirement," said the official.
Speaking to Lusa, Albano da Costa revealed that the partnership was signed in January 2021 and "does not have a term limit", with the acquisition of three aircraft being planned in a first phase.
"We have the first aircraft that arrived in the country last Wednesday and should start operating in January [2022] as soon as we finish our certification process, as it is the first of its type, and we expect to receive a second in a period of 90 days and finally add a third", he explained.
Around 56 million dollars is the initial investment, within the scope of this partnership, as mentioned by the director general of Turaco, including the costs of each helicopter, estimated at 10 million dollars each.
The Angolan company should also add to its fleet "rotating wing aircraft, that is, fixed wing aircraft and also international cargo flights to pick up goods in parts of the world to Angola and in transit", he stressed.
Despite the existence of other operators in this oil segment, "which is very attractive and is in recovery, the partnership in this domain appears to respond to demand since the market is vast".
"What sets us apart, in the first place, is the experience that Falcon Aviation brings, because Falcon has already operated in Kuwait and in several other countries, it is recognized worldwide as one of the best in helicopter operations for the oil sector" , finished off Albano da Costa.
