Order denounces that fake lawyers in Luanda are extorting citizens on social media

The Angolan Bar Association (OAA) denounced this Thursday the existence of false lawyers in Luanda, who are "inappropriately using misplaced ballots and cards" of lawyers registered in the order to "extort citizens" via social networks.

:

According to the vice president of the Luanda provincial council of the OAA, the suspects are trying to deceive victims through false profiles created on social networks.

"They pretend to be lawyers and thus seek to consummate certain deals, they try to cheat and convince victims that they are professional lawyers, their 'modus operandi' has been virtual contact, they avoid personal contact because they would have to expose themselves there ", Sérgio Godinho told Angolan Catholic radio.

The Luanda provincial council of the OAA "has been receiving information from its members regarding the loss of their banknotes and lawyer cards" and "there are people who have been using these cards through false profiles on social networks", he stressed.

Sérgio Godinho, who urges increased attention to citizens, also referred that the suspects incur crimes of "fraud and misuse of the quality of a lawyer", both punishable under the law.
