Children from homes gather in Cidade Alta and receive affection and toys from the presidential couple

More than a hundred children from homes and childhood centers in the province of Luanda this year had the right to a different Christmas, as they gathered in the Cidade Alta garden at the invitation of the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço.

After the interruption of the initiative, taking into account the covid-19 pandemic, the 'Roda de Amor' is back. As in previous editions, the hosts were the President of the Republic and the First Lady, who received dozens of children in the gardens of the Presidential Palace.

"Far from the hugs, close to the heart" was the motto of this Christmas party for the little ones at the Palace, in an allusion to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic. The children sang, danced, played and received toys from the presidential couple.

There was also time for a performance by Ângela Ferrão and for some laughs torn off by a clown. This was followed by an exhibition of dancing and poetry recitation, before the expected cake cut by the hosts.

The First Lady regretted that it was not possible to gather more children, namely from other provinces, justifying herself with the pandemic. "But I wanted to be with you. It wasn't easy for me to spend so long without this pleasant meeting with you. I'm very happy for you to be in my heart, despite not being able to hug you," stated Ana Dias Lourenço, quoted by Angop.

The hosts said goodbye with best wishes for a happy Christmas to all the families, leaving the desire to be able to hug the little ones again in 2022.
