Country recorded 50 deaths and 224 injuries from road accidents in one week

The country recorded, in the last week, 50 deaths and 224 injuries as a result of 250 road accidents, ten more than in the previous period, informed this Monday the National Police.

According to the Report on Public Security in the country, presented by the specialist of the Institutional Communication and Press Directorate of the National Police, Chief Inspector Venâncio Vicente, last week 880 citizens suspected of committing various crimes, including thefts were arrested (262), robberies (154), sexual assaults (32) and homicides (30).

Motor vehicle accidents were mostly registered in the provinces of Luanda (55), Huambo (27) and Benguela (22).

During the period in question, 57 firearms of various calibers were seized, of which 24 were in Luanda province and an equal number in Cuanza Norte province.

During its actions, the Police also seized 3325 liters of gasoline, 15,125 liters of diesel, 498 vehicles, 1219 motorcycles, 908 driving licenses, 562 entries, 1002 records and 514 property titles, imposing 3852 fines.

As part of immigration control, the authorities detained 173 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

"The police actions resulted in the summary judgment of 30 citizens, in light of the festive season, the National Police continues to carry out various operational actions to maintain security levels, especially during the festive season", stated Venâncio Vicente.
