Covid-19: country no longer registers deaths but number of new cases rises to 148

Angola registered 148 new positive covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Despite the rise in the number of new cases – which have more than doubled since yesterday – there were no more deaths caused by the disease, with more than fifty people recovered from the infection.

Luanda registered the highest number of new cases, 133, followed by the provinces of Cabinda (8), Zaire (5), Bengo (1) and Lunda Sul (1). New covid-19 cases are divided between 102 female and 46 female patients, aged between 1 and 90 years.

According to the most recent epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health (DNSP), 52 people, aged between 5 and 73 years old, and from the provinces of Luanda (35), Zaire (8), recovered from the disease, Cabinda (6) and Huambo (3).

The laboratories processed 2477 RT-PCR samples with a daily positivity rate of 5.9 percent. The cumulative since the start of the pandemic shows 1,232,382 samples processed, with a positivity rate of 5.4 percent.

At the moment, Angola registers a total of 66,086 positive cases, 1738 deaths, 63,822 recovered from the disease and 526 active cases. Of the active cases, none is in critical condition, being 6 severe, 41 moderate, 62 mild and 417 asymptomatic.

109 patients are hospitalized and 167 people are in institutional quarantine. There are still 380 contacts in epidemiological surveillance.
