"With a morning departure from 4 de Fevereiro Airport in Luanda, and with an Angolan crew, São Tomé was the pioneer of being the first destination operated by TAAG, using the Airbus A220-300, on an inaugural flight accompanied by members of the Board of TAAG Administration, Neide Teixeira, Mónica Cristino and Adiron Alberto", informed the airline, in a statement sent to VerAngola.
The company's delegation, says the note, was received at the airport by the Angolan ambassador to São Tomé and Príncipe, Fidelino Peliganga.
The trip to São Tomé lasted around 2h30 and approximately 200 passengers were transported, "considering the complete itinerary Luanda/São Tomé/Luanda".
Internally, Catumbela (in the province of Benguela) was the first destination to receive this Airbus A220-300 aircraft, on a one-hour trip between Luanda International Airport and Paulo Teixeira Jorge International Airport (Catumbela), "with around 240 passengers mobilized on the Luanda/Catumbela/Luanda route".
According to TAAG, this new aircraft is capable of transporting 137 passengers, 12 of which in business class and the remaining 125 in economy class.
"The equipment is signaled to cover the flag company's domestic and regional (intra-African) routes", says the note.
The airline also says that this is a "historic moment, being the first time that TAAG has an Airbus model aircraft in its proprietary fleet". Furthermore, the company also points out that this aircraft also has the "particularity of being the first to incorporate TAAG's new visual identity, preserving all the Angolan heritage in its decoration, with the reinforcement of the visibility of the sable on the plane's tail and wings".
