Born in Luanda, Adélio Cândido began his professional career in the youth teams of Portuguese club Beira-Mar de Almada, and then moved on to join Casa Pia.

In addition, he was also an assistant coach at Portuguese clubs Casa Pia and Sporting de Braga.

As assistant coach in Portugal, the Angolan won, with Sporting CP, a Super Cup (2021/2022), a National Championship (2023/2024) and a League Cup (2020/2021), having also won a League Cup (2019/2020) for Sporting de Braga.
