Speaking at the forum – held by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, in Johannesburg, South Africa –, Diamantino Azevedo invited participants to invest in available areas.
"Go to Angola and see for yourself. We have land, high mining potential, infrastructure, an attractive legal and fiscal system and young human capital to leverage your mining business", said the holder of the Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas portfolio, cited in a statement from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, to which VerAngola had access.
The executive director of De Beers for Operations, Moises Madondo, said that "Angola is the best place in the world to prospect and explore diamonds", leaving the guarantee that "De Beers will continue working with Angolan partners to find more diamonds and transform these resources into real wealth that benefits people, communities and the country."
In turn, in his welcome message, the Minister Counselor of the Angolan Embassy in South Africa, Nelson Sousa, said that the connection between Angola and South Africa is not just physical, adding: "It is an engagement between both people to create positive impacts on the economies of both countries, whose mining diversity involves gold, iron, aluminum, copper and several other resources".
According to the note, it was up to the executive director of the National Mineral Resources Agency, Djanira Santos, to present the areas in question.
Addressing those present at the forum, the administrator made it known that the areas under promotion are located in Namibe "with copper mining potential, covering an area of 426.33 square kilometers; in Benguela an area with copper (1013 square kilometers) is being promoted", while between Cunene and Cuando Cubango (570.83 square kilometers) there is an area with diamond-bearing potential.
According to the statement, other available areas are in Cuanza Sul (69 square kilometers) "with iron ore; between Benguela and Namibe (480 square kilometers) with ferrous metals such as molybdenum, graphite and gypsum; also in Cuanza Sul (2808 square kilometers) with iron ore; in Huíla (70 square kilometers) with potential for ferrous metals; rare earths between Benguela and Huambo (with an area of 873 square kilometers and another with 480 square kilometers); in Lunda Norte (390 square kilometers) and Malanje (411.58 square kilometers)".
Also on the list are "Malanje (511.25 square kilometers) with barite; in Lunda Norte (3000 square kilometers); Cuanza Sul, (an extension of 3093 square kilometers and another with 830 square kilometers) and in Lunda Sul (1245 kilometers squares) with primary and secondary diamond deposits".
It is worth noting that the forum's motto was "Angola, Mineral Potential and Business Opportunities for Investors".
