In the message addressed to Donald Trump, João Lourenço highlights that the results “clearly indicate” the confidence of the North American people in the governance policies designed for the next four years “with a view to (…) prosperity and the construction of a strong and confident in the future.”

With regard to the relationship with Angola, João Lourenço is convinced that the efforts made between the two governments to build a solid foundation, based on “reinforced mutual trust”, will continue to have a common line of action, “ so that Angola and the United States of America reap substantial reciprocal benefits and advantages”.

The chief executive also believes that Trump “will use all his dynamism, experience and energy to contribute to the search for understanding and resolution of the serious problems that humanity faces in terms of peace and security, food and energy security, that require concerted action among nations.”

Republican Donald Trump won the North American elections and will become the 47th president of the United States, having surpassed the 270 votes needed in the electoral college, when the results are still being counted.

Trump also remains ahead of his Democratic opponent in the popular vote, with 50.9 percent against Kamala Harris' 47.6 percent.

The Republican Party also recovered the Senate, surpassing the mark of 51 elected representatives, while in the Chamber of Deputies it is also ahead of the election with 205 mandates, just 13 from the majority.
