Organized by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of Portugal, the competition had 29 international entries, and the jury awarded the prize to the consortium led by the Angolan, who co-founded Del Medio Atelier, to restructure the National Museum of Contemporary Art, located in Chiado, in the Portuguese capital.
The simplicity and harmony with the urban environment of the project were determining factors that led the jury to award the prize of 18 thousand euros (approximately 17 million kwanzas) to the consortium, thus allowing it to rehabilitate the aforementioned museum, and the works should cost around eight million euros (more than seven billion kwanzas), writes Jornal de Angola.
Regarding this achievement, the architect said it reflects the "capacity, talent and resilience of young Angolans".
Speaking to Jornal de Angola, the 29-year-old Angolan said he also wants to build an Angolan museum of contemporary art, as well as infrastructure that meets local demands, especially in housing and cultural areas.
He considered that Angola needs "solutions that respect" the country's reality, but at the same time "bring modernity".
"Angola needs solutions that respect our reality and at the same time bring modernity. Del Medio Atelier is prepared to contribute", he said, quoted by Jornal de Angola.
