"We are trying to work with all the different partners, especially with the leadership of President Lourenço, but also the leadership of SADC (Southern African Development Community)", which the head of state currently presides over, highlighted the diplomat in statements at the Presidential Palace, after being received this Tuesday in audience.
The North American ambassador said that he discussed with João Lourenço the need to continue efforts for peace in that region of the African continent.
"We continue to praise the efforts of the Angolan Government, of the Angolan people, to try to seek peace in this area (eastern DRCongo)", declared the diplomat, who recalled that the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, "spoke to the Presidents (Paul) Cagame and (Félix) Tshisekedi", of Rwanda and DRCongo respectively, over the weekend.
Tulinabo Mushingi highlighted everyone's interest in "convincing the different actors involved in this area that peace is the only way to continue producing positive results for the people".
The extraordinary SADC summit, which took place last Saturday in Luanda, mandated the acting president, João Lourenço, to intensify diplomatic efforts between DRCongo and Rwanda for the pacification of that country.
This was one of the conclusions of the SADC summit of heads of state and government, who expressed "concern about the deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation prevailing in eastern DRCongo and reports of renewed attacks and occupation of parts of the territory by [ Congolese rebel movement] M23, in clear violation of the ceasefire".
In the final communiqué, they mentioned that strategic guidelines were defined on the deployment of the SADC Mission in DRCongo, aimed at restoring peace and security in the country, and the need for this organization to lead efforts for peace and security in the region is reiterated.
Tulinabo Mushingi also discussed bilateral cooperation between Luanda and Washington with João Lourenço.
