"There is no justice without speed. Any slow justice causes a negative reaction from citizens", he said, during the 11th Forum of Presidents of the Supreme Courts of Justice of Portuguese-speaking Countries and Territories, held in Brasília.

The president of the Superior Council of the Judiciary also recalled that in the Supreme Court there are only 71 judges and 26 counselor judges for a population of around 32 million inhabitants.

Joel Leonardo defended the need to "improve the digitalization system" by hiring modern service providers, in order to "reduce backlogs", as the Supreme Court receives between 20 and 15 cases daily.

"We are committed to putting IT platforms in favor of the judiciary", he assured, highlighting that it will be a "huge challenge", but necessary, "because it achieves access to justice".

For the judge advisor, the process must start with the basics, such as allowing "citizens to have timely knowledge of the status of their cases in the courts", the dates of the release and trial orders, decision dates, among others.

Between Monday and Tuesday, the 11th Forum of Presidents of the Supreme Courts of Justice of Portuguese-speaking Countries and Territories took place in Brasília, centered on the theme "The Judiciary and New Technologies".

The forum brought together the presidents of the Supreme Courts, Supreme Courts, Courts of Appeal, and Courts of Final Instance of Portuguese-speaking Countries and Territories (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Macau Special Administrative Region, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste).
