Eight out of ten workers “blame” covid-19 for the stagnation of personal and professional life

Covid-19 had a significant impact on the national job market, with around 82 percent of respondents saying that the disease had affected their professional and personal lives and more than half felt stagnation in their careers.

The research carried out by the company Kept People, a consultant specialized in human capital, confirmed that the effects of the prolonged covid-19 pandemic significantly altered the motivations and behavior of the workforce in the country.

The study was based on a questionnaire with the topics considered most relevant, to which 1920 people responded from April to July of this year.

In professional terms, 54 percent of respondents say they have felt stagnation in their career progression and more than 80 percent refer to having been supported by their company in order to overcome the difficulties of covid-19.

However, 79% refer that, in this context, greater attention should have been given to employees in search of solutions and 86% of respondents refer that companies should improve their employees' career guidance, in a way that is more adjusted to the new times.

The survey highlights, on the other hand, that given the experience of covid-19, various aspects of people's lives have become more valued, with 41 percent of respondents referring to having started to give more importance to their mental health and well-being. be.

"In the same line, but in a smaller percentage, the answers pointed to the desire to start a leisure activity (22 percent), start traveling more (17 percent) or invest more time in socializing (16 percent )", emphasizes in the research.

For 32 percent of respondents, achieving balance between personal and professional life is the measure of professional success in the face of experiencing this atypical period, followed by well-being and mental health as the most important aspects (with 22 percent of respondents). percent) and greater flexibility in the provision of work, including the possibility of remote work (with 17 percent).

The analysis concluded that the motivations and expectations of the workforce in Angola underwent strong changes after experiencing the period of covid-19, with aspects such as mental health and well-being, relationships with others and the need to be heard in the construction of solutions became even more relevant after experiencing the pandemic period.
