UNITA advises Government to follow Cape Verde Model in the municipalities

The UNITA leader advised the government, which has the Mozambican model as “the one who inspires him” to Cape Verde for municipal elections, which should take place in 2023.

:

Adalberto Costa Júnior's position was expressed at the opening of the II Ordinary Meeting of the National Union Political Commission for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), which runs in Viana until Saturday.

“Municipalities must be performed and must be held in 2023. It's not a promise of mine, no! We made this promise and someone followed us and we did not agree to be followed in this kind of promises and we have those promises that are not only ours, they are also sitting in the chair of governance, ”said the president of UNITA.

The president, as a candidate for the Angola Popular Liberation Movement (MPLA), pledged to hold the first municipal elections in his second term after the 2020 attempt was failed.

According to Adalberto Costa Júnior, UNITA will not get tired of working to carry out the municipalities, although the government is "leaving a message that it is in a hurry."

“Municipalities are not a matter of haste, they are a matter of necessity, capital necessity. We are not able to properly arrange the country we have, to correspond to the hope of employability, development, security, education, energy, good road, if we do not have the municipalities with the legitimacy of the citizen, elected their leaders ” , he stressed.

Adalberto Costa Júnior recalled that municipal power is an autonomous and complementary government, "that scares dictatorial regimes, which do not respect democracy."

The politician stressed that municipalities should be implemented simultaneously throughout the country, a matter that is fracturing in the approval of the local legislative package.

"Because we are already realizing that the format and path they want to bring us in new administrative shares and others that such is the contour of the realization of local local authorities in all the municipalities of our country," he noted.

“Let us stop having creativity, because it is not positive to have creativity to deny citizenship rights, have the creativity to do what it has done Mozambique, which has had local power for almost 30 years and has no local authorities in its effective and full functionality and Not all over the country, ”he added.

According to Adalberto Costa Júnior, Angola wants to follow the Mozambican model, but advised, "follow Cape Verde, where the government has sent so many delegations."

“It is the African context and it is a model of democracy that must be followed, which had the courage in difficulty and poverty to perform them simultaneously throughout the country and the democratic environment and the results are there. The levels of acquired development, acquired dignity, consented education and respect that has today from around the world, ”he said.
