Technological management of the Samba Lucala farm is guaranteed by more than 60 local young people

The management and handling of state-of-the-art technological devices that are part of the Samba Lucala farm – located in Samba Cajú, in the province of Cuanza Norte, which comprises an agro-industrial project of the Government valued at 54.6 million dollars – is guaranteed by more than 60 local young people, who received training in the on-the-job system.

:

One of these young people is Joaquim José Muene. Born in Samba Cajú and an employee of the project for five years, Joaquim is responsible for handling a spraying machine that has a GPS system and a capacity of 2,500 liters of water, allowing the spraying of 250 hectares per day, depending on the weather conditions, writes Angop.

According to the young man, quoted by Angop, this device makes it possible to identify the area under intervention, guaranteeing the spraying only once, as well as preventing the crop from being attacked by larvae and fungi, eliminating the grass that grows around the plant.

Referring that he was chosen in a competition by the company that manages the project, Joaquim Muene also added that he learned to use the equipment in training, expressing pride in being able to collaborate in the impulse of agriculture to ensure Angola's food self-sufficiency.

Another of the young people involved in the technological management of the project is António Miguel. Also from the municipality of Samba Cajú, the young man, according to Angop, is part of the hydraulic system management area where he is responsible for mixing pesticides as well as monitoring irrigation pivots that are electronically controlled via mobile phone.

Another case is that of Domingos Pedro who, according to Angop, is involved in the area of stocks, control and management of cereal seeds before they are sown, as well as monitoring the dosage parameters and choice of chemicals used to prevent pests.

Covering an area of 1000 hectares, the farm has an irrigation system guaranteed by 23 pivots and a pumping station of 2800 cubic meters per hour.

The list of characteristics of the farm also includes a water containment dam measuring 450 cubic meters and 18 meters deep, a flooded space of 516 thousand cubic meters, as well as 33 kilometers of PVC pipes, writes Angop.

The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, António de Assis inaugurated the project – the result of an investment by the Executive aimed at strengthening the fight against hunger and poverty, as well as reducing imports and training national staff – last Thursday.
