Mariplástico bets on the production of civil construction material

Located in Lubango, Huíla province, the Marivel group's plastics factory will invest in a new production line – the fifth – dedicated to the manufacture of building materials for the domestic market.

:

The new line intends to produce PVC plumbing products, as well as other construction materials for warehouses and buildings. The aim is to make the country self-sufficient in this type of material, which is currently imported.

Floriano José, owner of the company, told ANGOP that the new investment will increase the company's jobs, which will go from 75 to 90.

The official said, however, that this expansion is dependent on financing from the Development Bank of Angola (BAD), which has already financed the installation of the factory at 500 million kwanzas, with 90 percent of this amount already paid.

Mariplástico is installed in an area of 7000 square meters, currently having four production lines, corresponding to ten Chinese-made machines.

The factory produces a variety of items, a total of almost 200, ranging from chairs to glasses, tables, vases, trays, grocery bags, etc. Production reaches eight tons of raw material per day.

Also according to statements made by the official to Angop, the unit recycles between 60 and 70 tonnes of plastic waste, purchased from registered families for between 130 and 200 kwanzas per kilo.

Turnover is around 78 million kwanzas, despite around 30 percent of production being sold on credit.

The provinces that buy the most material produced there are Luanda, Namibe, Cuando Cubango and Huambo. Through Huambo, the products can be transported by train to Luau, later reaching the Democratic Republic of Congo.
